Casio Men's WV58DA-1AV Waveceptor Atomic Sport Watch Review

Casio Men's WV58DA-1AV Waveceptor Atomic Sport Watch

This watch has a lot of features like stop watch, alarm, and automatic time sync. They are work well. It also has some negatives. This watch is heavy and big. My bicep has grown an inch in the first week. The wrist band is difficult to re-size. You must remove links unless you have a huge wrist. You will need an awl, or something slender and pointed. The keys that hold these links togeter came out very hard, I scratched the outside of the band with every link removed. I should have laid the band on a soft cloth (my fault). The watch is perfectly accurate, not bad looking, and priced under $40. That's a pretty good value for this type of watch.

Casio Men's WVA320J-1E Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch Review

Casio Men's WVA320J-1E Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The watch looks better in person than it does in the pictures. I recommend going to a brick and mortar store before committing on Amazon. The watch looks much better with an after-market nylon zulu/nato strap. Another version with a steel bracelet is offered, but I've heard that the quality on the bracelet is not great, so I recommend after-market bracelets (watch has standard 22mm lugs). The lume on the hands is very bright, unfortunately, the rest of the lume is a little dim, not sure if that is meant on purpose. Weak lume is a non-issue since the watch has a electric light that adequately illuminates the watch. The digital display can be used for a number of things, not just weekday and calendar day indication. It can also display different time zone times, power meter, stop watch, digital time, digital second indicator... etc. Its really cool to see that the digital time is exactly synchronized with the analog time. THIS IS NOT A DIVE WATCH! As far as a I can tell, the watch is not rated for diving, but it is styled after dive watches so I find that a little misleading. The bezel is unidirectional with 120 clicks. The atomic synchronization doesn't seem to work well here in Miami, reception from FT. Collins is poor to non-existent, but that is not Casio's fault. NIST has plans to build a station that will cover the east coast of the US but plans are not set in stone or near the horizon, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Bought the watch at $120 from Amazon (noticed the price went up :( Initially was told that the watch would ship in 1 month! but the actual ship time was a lot shorter in reality. I agree with another reviewer that the watch was a little confusing to setup initially and that the manual was a little confusing but eventually you will figure it out with a little patience.
Bottomline --- Watch is not perfect, it is not dive rated but is probably well suited for all other water activities. Packs plenty of high-tech features in a classic appearance. If you like the dive watch style but don't want the clunkiness of a dive watch, this is it. Casio reliability and quality is legendary.

Casio Men's WVA470DJ-1ACF Waveceptor Solar Atomic Ana-Digi Sport Watch Review

Nice watch. Save yourself the trouble of trying to read the included instructions and download the manual for module 3311/5052 from Casio's website. The module number is also on the back side of the body. No problems synchronizing time settings by setting the watch in the window as directed by the instructions at a distance of ~1,200 miles from Fort Collins, CO. Battery charge has remained on "HIGH" for two months after an initial charging in the window sill on the afternoon of purchase. Unless you have the specific tools, take it to someone who does to re-size the band. Afterglow feature lights up the digital portion of the face only, not the entire watch face. Non-metallic enough to go through airport TSA while still on wrist and not set off the alarm. Purchased from Amazon with free shipping. Would buy again if needed.

OK watch, I bought it because it was cheap and had a 10 year battery. Be careful, the crystal is raised (retarded design) and it's permanently scratched now. I may throw it away as it's hard to read anyway (small display).

Casio Men's WVM120J-1 Solar Atomic Resin Strap Watch Review

Casio Men's WVM120J-1 Solar Atomic Resin Strap Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Some time ago I have sworn that I will only use solar-powered watches that synchronize time with atomic clocks. Initially only quite expensive and 'stylish' models were available, but wearing a timepiece worth several hundred bucks while doing work around the house makes you constantly worried that you scratch precious thing.
This watch is under $100 and has all the benefits of its more expensive 'brothers':
- Solar powered quite efficiently - with normal daily exposure to light I'm always at the 'max charge' level (of course living in sunny Nevada helps here).
- Time synchronization with the 5 radio transmitters all over the world (USA, England, Germany, Japan*2). I frequently travel to visit family in Europe, so USA and England/Germany transmitter sync is important to me. Many watches in the US only sync with USA transmitter or USA and Japan; the latest models just started supporting new China transmitters; this one is the perfect balance for me.
- Time signal reception is excellent in Nevada, bot inside the buildings and outside. From my previous experiences it should mean good reception throughout the West Coast and (maybe!) some problems inside solid-construction buildings in New England and Florida.
- Unlike some cheap models of watches and clocks, this one reads Daylight Savings Time data straight from the radio signal, so it 'springs ahead' and 'falls back' at the correct dates. Some older clocks have hard-coded DST transition dates and are confused after the recent DST changes in the USA.
- I love 'Auto EL' feature: the watch turns on Electro-Luminescent backlight for two seconds when it is dark and the wearer positions hand appropriately. Perfect for the movies, night flights and similar situations.
- I usually prefer metal bands, but resin band in this model is surprisingly good quality and wears OK.
- Button operation seems to be reliable so far.
- The glass is scratch resistant and placed recessed in the metal panel - so far I managed to keep it clear, which is unusual for me.
Amazon had the best price for this item, better than Fry's and Casio website. The watch arrived on time and in good shape.

Casio Men's WV58A-1AV Waveceptor Atomic Digital Watch Review

Casio Men's WV58A-1AV Waveceptor Atomic Digital Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This watch has the features, weight/feel that I wanted for work. (HEMS)
The "atomic time" feature coincides exactly with our helicopter's Garmin 530 radios. The backlight lasts long enough after pressing to write down and view times without repeating over and over again. The only reason I gave a 3/5 is the watch arrived without instructions. None.
I do not know if that was a Seller issue (Chelsea) or Manufacturer. (Casio) I have enough gadgetology experience that I could eventually figure it out. I prefer instructions and if I cannot find any on-line, it may take a while. (Syncing the radio signal, changing from Central Time to Pacific, changing the 12 hr format to 24 hr, etc.) Overall, this is exactly what I have been looking for.
Addendum: Go to Casio's website. Enter in the 4 (or 3) digit number from the back of your watch and it has a library of all the relevant instructions manuals in pDF format. Which, come to think of it, is a little easier to read than those manuals they usually put under the display box. But it is an additional hassle if you don't have internet access.

Love the watch-now. Because the manual is often not clear, it took quite a while to set up. AMAZON was no help. Whey I contact them to get Casio's Tech number the only number they had was for a distributor. Casio's website allows you to send e-mails with a standard response- download the manual. BUT after quite a bit of digging I found the number- write this down- Casio Tech Support: 1-800-435-7732, choose Option 3.
The response is prompt and the tech support staff is courteous and helpful.

This bracelet had a heavy, substantial feel to it. Well made. the only problem with it was the installation using the spring loaded band pins. I used a metal pick to pull back the retractable tips but it still took quite a while to get them to seat right. The band is comfortable and is easy to get on and take off and keep clean.

Casio Men's WVAM490D-2A Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch Review

Casio Men's WVAM490D-2A Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch
Average Reviews:

This is an update to the following review. After one month of normal wear, the band pin pulled thorugh the resin case. I sent the watch in to the Casio service center in Dover NJ for repair. After a month, I called but was unable to get through. I sent an email via the [...] website stating my issues. I received a prompt reply stating that my watch was un repairable and that it would be replaced with another style. The WVA-320J was suggested. This watch is a superior timepiece in that the case is completely stainless steel. The only drawback, and the reason I did not choose this model to start with is that it is a bigger watch. It is in the dive watch style and, though not as big as most dive watches, it is bigger than the 490D. After choosing the 320J, it was shipped promptly and arrived the following week. In the end, the resin case of the 490D was its only drawback, but it proved to be critical. As has been said, if the case were stainless, it would be outstanding. As it is, the delicate nature of the resin case makes it a risk.
This is a very nice watch. It compares favorably with a Seiko/Tag Heuer/Omega. And, prioritizing accuracy and functionality, it surpasses high end sport/dress watches. It is a slimmer watch than most regarding case thickness, but the diameter is comparable to the turning bevel fake dive watch chronographs. I am replacing two watches: a Seiko chronograph and a Casio Databank 150. This watch fills both those needs and admirably fits the bill for an everyday work watch (I'm a pilot) as well as a dress watch.
It fits well and looks very nice. The analogue hands are a classy look and the digital window is large enough to read and use, without overwhelming the analogue look. It has dual time, alarm, on-hour beeps, stopwatch, day-date and seconds read-out in the digital window, as well as the timesetting and watch management functions. There is not second hand, but the seconds are always visible in the digital window. It will continually display either day-date or digital time (either same time zone or dual time). It has illumination for the entire face including the digital window as well as luminescent hands and numbers. Its weight is heavy enough to feel substantial but not overly heavy. The band is stainless steel along with the face cover. Obviously it is accurate. It resets itself every night according to the clock in Fort Collins. The solar cell face continually keeps the battery charged and seems to work with very little light. This works extremely well and is everything I had hoped it would be. The watch is water resistant, claimed to be good for up to "water-related work and swimming".
On the other hand, this is not a stainless steel case. It is a resin case with stainless front and back covers. Resin is visible from all views, though it blends well with the stainless. I was taken aback at first, but have grown accustomed to it and don't mind. The resin is difficult to see without close inspection. The instruction book is small, though not out of the ordinary for a watch instruction book. The band has a two-button clasp that grasps a post. This seems to work well and holds securely. However, adjusting the band is difficult. It has pins that must be driven out. This is a delicate operation. I chose to take it to a watch shop for adjustment and was advised that many people were ruining this type band by driving the pins out themselves. Further, there is only one clasp adjustment slot. It gives you about a quarter inch of self adjustment.
All in all this is exactly what I was looking for. It has a classic elegance with the analogue face. It has the size and weight of the sport/dress watches but is slim enough to not snag on your sleeve. Where it shines is in utility. It is a true multi-function, highly accurate timepiece that is well laid out and easy to use. I am very satisfied with the watch.

This is a great watch. I don't wear my Patek Philippe any more because this watch is superior in some pretty basic ways. First, it is always exactly on time thanks to the radio synchronization to the atomic clock. For me this feature works perfectly, automatically, every night. Second, it will never run down or need a battery thanks to the solar power. It also looks good and is easy to read.
If you want a watch that tells the correct time, and always will, this is the one for you.

Casio General Men's Watches Digital W-753-1AVDF - WW Review

Casio General Men's Watches Digital W-753-1AVDF - WW
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

I decided I wanted a decent-sized yachting watch with the tide shown on it as I thought it would be handy for sailing. I looked around and discovered there are huge differences in prices for watches and as I couldn't justify spending much, after some study I ended up choosing the Casio Sea Pathfinder. Now I don't know much about brands but I do know that Casio isn't a cool brand but, hey, getting this much watch for less than twenty pounds, I couldn't complain. The Amazon price was significantly cheaper than prices in the various chandlery mail order catalogues (now there's a surprise!). Please note there is a blue strap version (the one I chose) and a black strap version which I think are the same watch (at least the same innards) but slightly different visually.
So, what's the watch like? Firstly, I'm a woman (albeit a large one!) and some men's watches look ridiculous. This one is fine, it's got a large face but not enormously so and a curved glass top so it feels smooth. There are four large buttons, two either side, which are easy to press. The main display (usually the time) is easy to see and very clear, the tidal and lunar displays less so, although you get used to reading the watch face.
There are a number of different modes including time, dual time (i.e. two different time zones), moon (how many days into the moon), 5 alarms, stopwatch and countdown timer. Interestingly I've found myself using the countdown timer when cooking (rather than a normal cooking pinger) because it's very easy to set. In fact all of the options on the watch are easy to set - once you've found out your lunitudinal interval. This mystery number helps the watch know the tidal states but the little instruction book that comes with the watch only gives general lunitudinal interval locations, such as 'London'. Armed with a set of tide tables and the watch, I discovered that London is significantly different to Eastbourne (Sovereign Harbour) tidal times. The thing I hadn't realised before buying this watch is that you can dial in the date and time and it will tell you the tide at that point, it doesn't just tell you the tide right now, so I was able to check the calculations up till December this year. Eventually, after some googling, I found a table of lunitudinal intervals along the South Coast of England. It didn't include Eastbourne but did have some other locations and, with a little trial and error, I managed to find the best lunitudinal interval which meant my watch tides agreed mostly with the Tide Table tides. And so far the tidal display seems reasonably accurate - it's nowhere near good enough to use for sailing planning but is a helpful quick check when you're thinking about walking on the beach (will the dog be able to play in the rock pools or will they be covered up?) and for general interest.
Being a digital watch it does have the unfortunate problem that when wearing polarising sunglasses (as I do when sailing) it's hard to make out the LCD display, but this is also true for the log, depth display, radar etc on the boat and isn't the fault of the watchmaker, just something to bear in mind.
Battery life is supposedly 10 years but most people will be bored with the watch by then and have moved onto the next one. The light lights up the face in the dark (what more do you need), the beeps for the alarms are loud enough to wake me, the watch overall seems perfectly adequate and it looks good. I think if I'd paid fifty pound I would have been very happy, for less than twenty it's a complete bargain. Go for it!

Casio Men's WV200DA-1A Multi-Task Gear Waveceptor Sports Watch Review

Casio Men's WV200DA-1A Multi-Task Gear Waveceptor Sports Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned hundreds of watches and this Casio sports digital watch is one of the best. What I like is that the atomic timekeeping functions works well and was easy to set up. The face of the watch displays the day of the week, month, date, and year, hourly time and alarm signal indicators, daylight savings time indicator for world time and home time, and time in hours, minutes and seconds ALL on one screen. This is very convenient and thus you do not have to push a button to obtain some of this info as is the case on most other digital watches. As a result though some display items are small but still very readable. One of the best features is that the watch actually has a glass mineral crystal (not plastic) and a plastic bezel that sits up over the crystal that offers maximum protection from the crystal getting dinged and/or scratched. The only downside to the glass crystal is that it mutes the alarm sound slightly over a plastic crystal but for people with normal hearing, it should not be a problem The watch is slightly heavier too but it feels very comfortable on the arm/wrist. The watch has one alarm, 60 minute timer and 60 minute stopwatch, and 48 world timezones. The stainless steel band is nice and fits even large-wrist folks. The only thing that would make the watch perfect would be adding solar power and a 24 hr stopwatch. But considering the price and functionality you will not find a better watch. I just purchased my second one.

I've had it for roughly about 2 months now and it hasn't failed me yet. It is quite different from the usual watches I have, have been switched from the usual areas (light is on the top right corner, not in the usual left corner which the adjust button now occupies). It took some getting used to, but became very handy with the 5 alarms built-in. The only drawback from the alarm system is that it rings no long than 1 minute.
