(More customer reviews)I bought this watch as a cheap, reliable timekeeper for somewhat rough international travel. It is a great watch and looks good, particularly for the money, except for one really important thing: It's an alarm watch, and the alarm is so quiet and high-pitched that it's very difficult to hear unless you're in a very quiet room. It's certainly not loud enough to wake any but the lightest sleepers. Thus one of its main functions isn't all that useful. Otherwise, it looks cool, is totally accurate, and the price was right.

(More customer reviews)This Casio Men's Dress watch #AQ230A7D is one of Casio's first ana-digi watches, and has several functions, including a dual-time feature. I had worn this watch after college as my first business watch ca. 1981. It lasted for years and years, and then went missing. I spotted it recently at a mall kiosk, where they offered it for $60.00. I couldn't help but buy it here for about $19.00! The watch is still simple, elegant, lightweight and slim. Most new ana-digi watches have giant cases that stand high off the wrist. This watch is thinner than my expensive Rado. The watch weighs next to nothing. The band on this watch is also easily adjustable, without anything more than a gentle screwdriver to pop up a clamp on the back side of the bracelet lock. There are no links to remove. I always wished the watch had a backlight, but Casio wasn't building them that way in the 1980s. This watch also comes with a black face. I bought both.

(More customer reviews)When I tried to manually adjust the time, it broke, so I sent it back for a new one. The second watch couldn't set time zones correctly, so I sent it back also, and then bought a watch from another company.
Casio customer service is only available during limited hours. If you get them on the phone, they're pretty good, but email support isn't very helpful (if they reply at all).
I'd be willing to pay more for a watch that actually worked and had decent customer service, but Casio is clearly all about quantity and not quality. I was very disappointed with this purchase and wish I haddn't wasted all that time.

(More customer reviews)I just received my "gold" Casio, beautifully wrapped and boxed. Thanks. I like the watch a lot. I hope the gold appearance will last. This looks as real-gold as an 18k 30-year service award Rolex watch I have.
The watch is a good size, thin, elegant looking, and has a high quality appearance. You can stop the second hand by pulling the stem all the way out. The leather strap and buckle are excellent quality. I am a watch nut, but I bet I'll be wearing this one most of the time.
Although the watch under this model number is no longer available, I see what is apparently the same watch a bit farther on in the listing for a few bucks more. I also see one with the same case in steel color.
Can someone please tell me how durable is the gold color on Casios?

I contacted Casio and they sent me instructions for removing links. Fortunately for me I have a talented husband who was finally able to figure it out and remove the links to make it fit. I can't read the time as easily as I thought I would be able to. The black face makes it a little difficult. But for the money - it is a great little watch!

(More customer reviews)I got so many compliments on this watch and it was one of my favorites. The large seconds were great for timing things and such. It was also both cute and waterproof. The rubber did get little dingy overtime, but really not too noticeably. However, the real downside is that it broke after only 9 months of wear! For no reason the latch fell out of the plastic and there's no feasible way to fix it. I really liked this watch, but I am now searching for something cute that will last longer. I guess you can't complain for $20.

(More customer reviews)I've owned this watch for a good 15 years. Not one watch, mind you; I've bought the exact same watch about 5 times over that period. It is a good watch, nice looking, loud enough alarm, and it lasts a long time on the included lithium battery.
The watch is definitely waterproof, but although the body of the watch looks like it's made out of metal, it is actually plastic, and the bottom of it will eventually pit out from sweat or water. So, take it off in the shower or pool.
My big gripe about the watch is the band. I prefer metal stretchy bands to metal snap-on bands or leather bands. This is a spiedel-type band, which will stretch over your hand and snap back in place. Frankly, the reason I've had to get so many of these watches over the years is that I will inevitably get the band caught on something while I'm taking off something or putting it on, and it will snap.
It is cheaper to buy an entirely new watch than to replace the band (around $25 versus $14), so that's what I do. I then use the old watches as supplementary alarms for years. And they do last for years.
A good, solid, digital watch that will give you years of trouble free use as long as you treat it right.

Unfortunately I'm getting attached to some of the features that this watch has that my nicer watch is missing! This beauty has all of the basic timer, count-down, alarm, dual time-zone features, and it is cheap!
Minor issues:
* The lettering around the plastic case wears off pretty quickly- I've put it through about a month of moderate use and the letters are coming off. It doesn't bother me a bit, but it might bother others.
* Contrary to the product description, The backlight is definitely not electro-luminescent (EL, Indiglo, etc). It is a small orange LED in the corner of the screen. It comes on for about 5 seconds when you press the light button. It's plenty bright and everything on the screen is easily readable, but it is not a smooth, even glow like the Indiglo. Again, doesn't bother me a bit, but it is incorrect in the product description.
