"Casio Men's PAG40-3COS Pathfinder Triple Sensor Watch"
The Swiss Army tool of watches. Every watch should have the features this watch has. Even with a large 50 mm case this is a light weight watch. It is so light weight, I barely know it's on my wrist. All the sensors have their own large dedicated buttons. I find the barometer/thermometer feature very convenient. I never have to wonder or check the weather, I always know what temperature it is at the simple push of a button. And it can predict what the weather will be! The other feature that, I also find convenient to have is the compass. At the simple touch of a button you know which direction your going. This watch at first may make some seem a little timid. A few minutes with the instruction booklet (if you need it) and you will have all your sensors calibrated or to your liking. I prefer Fahrenheit when it comes to temperature settings and not Celsius. This watch will come with the Celsius setting from the factory. I haven't been hiking with it but the altimeter is nice to have so you can track your altitude, cumulative ascent and decent in route to your destination. A feature that some may not consider is the clasp. The clasp is a fold over clasp and secures quite nicely. No worries of it coming lose and losing the watch. The mineral crystal is very thought, I have owned it for weeks now and not a single blemish. This is a watch that you can where to work or play. The watch is more than just watch it's like a computer on your wrist. Finally, and maybe the ultimate feature is that it's solar powered. Never have to worry about battery's again! Amazon.com has the best price on the internet. There may be an unfamiliar website that may have it for a few dollars less but it's not worth the risk. For the piece of mind and price you can't go wrong. If you have any second thoughts about this watch remember this an easy watch to use and has an easy to read instruction booklet. The booklet is a bit thick but most of the information you will not need. The box that it comes in appears to a be "green" box (recycled or Eco-friendly). Which, I find very appeasing that it's environmentally friendly. The Casio engineers did an awesome job on this watch. If you want to be in the know. You will want this watch. I would highly recommend this watch to all military service members.

It works. It takes abuse and the light still works. The thermometer is kind of lame because it measures your body heat.

G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock DW-6900MS-1DR - WW Review

G-Shock Men's Watch G-Shock DW-6900MS-1DR - WW

The face on this watch is a ton darker than it appears in the photo. It works fine in full sunlight or indoors with full indoor lighting. Dawn, Dusk or Dark the red numbers cannot be seen unless you activate back-light, which is going to severely affect the battery life.
I do like the all black coating and the idea of red numbers on the face to save night vision. However, the numbers should be brighter.
I've worn a G-shock since 1993, and the watch band on this watch is not as comfortable as my last watch.

Luminox Men's 3005 Original Navy SEAL Dive Watch Review

Luminox Men's 3005 Original Navy SEAL Dive Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I figured it would be just a watch to wear seeing as a buddy of mine gave it to me because he bought the F-117 Luminox watch. Most of the reviews (especially for the black faced watch) really rag on it and totally discredit the watch and company as a whole. I've had the watch since 2002, lets not take into account that it was bought and worn before it came into my possession, and the battery ran out....2 months ago. The original battery. The only problems I've ever had with this watch were the pins for the watch. One broke as I raked my hiking backpack across it by accident. Dissapointing yes, but I don't mind paying Target or Wal-Mart $8 or so to give me brand new pins. The customer service IS pretty horrid, send it in they say and we'll let you know the price...yeah, not too impressive. For those that complain about the watch band breaking, I suggest go to Target or Wal-Mart to buy a cheap new one. It doesn't have to be a Luminox band. I've bought two cheap bands, one I bought simply because the first I bought was too stiff. So what?!? Also a good watch band is the ZULU 4 ring or the NATO nylon straps. Point being, I don't see what all the griping is about, I've known several people with this exact brand watch (some have the different color faces) and none have ever had a problem. Yes, the casio g-shock is what most of the military wears, my cousin is in the Army and that's what he uses. So, use it as a good casual watch, camping watch, or traveling watch.

Prized for its durability and unique illumination system, the Luminox Original Navy SEAL Series 1 stainless steel men's watch exudes confidence and power whenever it's worn. Thanks to the vaunted Luminox self-powered illumination system, this watch's hands and dial markers glow 100 times brighter than other luminous watches and will provide continuous illumination for more than 25 years. It's also water resistant to 200 meters (20 ATM, 660 feet), which is suitable for recreational scuba diving.
The large, black-plated stainless steel watch case--measuring 1.7 inches wide and 0.4 inches thick--is topped by a ratcheting, unidirectional rotating bezel with engraved 5-minute Arabic numerals in white and coin-edged detailing for an improved grip. The yellow dial face is accented by white Arabic numeral markers, large black-outlined baton hands (with seconds hand), and a date function at 3 o'clock. It's completed by a comfortable polyurethane (PU) diver's strap in black. Other features include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, multi-jeweled Swiss quartz watch movement, double gasket crown, and 4-year battery life. It's backed by a 1-year Luminox warranty.
Luminox Self-Powered Illumination System Each Luminox watch employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules), which are firmly embedded in the hands and the hour indicators on the watch face (as well as on the turning ring of diver's watches). Luminox watches need no external light source to "charge" the paint on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches, nor do they require a push of a button to light the dial as do electro luminescent watches.
About Luminox Luminox combines the finest tradition and precision of Swiss watchmaking with the durability demanded by US armed forces and the latest innovations in timepiece technology. The company pioneered the development of small, individual luminescent tracer lamps and was contacted by the U.S. Navy SEAL teams to build a dive watch for their use on night missions. After their popularity in the Navy grew, the Air Force asked Luminox to develop a watch specifically for F-117 Nighthawk Stealth pilots.

Casio Men's PAW1300-3V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Green Watch Review

Casio Men's PAW1300-3V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Green Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned two Casio G-shock watches over a span exceeding a decade. I always liked the G-shock, but alas the viewing light recently stopped working and it was time to try something with a few more features. After quite a bit of searching I settled on the Pathfinder (model PAW 1300 - 3v) and I believe I made the correct personal choice.
Before actually receiving the watch from Amazon I was definitely concerned about the overall size of this watch. From my research I was half afraid I would end up with a geeky watch the size of a dinner plate on my wrist. Moreover, I don't have a big wrist to begin with so this was a real concern. I was pleasantly surprised that although slightly larger in circumference than a standard watch, this watch was not nearly as large as I had imagined. In fact, the difference between this model (1300) and the previous model (1200) is the size. The 1200 is nearly identical in features but is quite a bit thicker than the newer 1300 model. This Pathfinder sits nicely on my wrist and does not look unusual.
Practically speaking, this watch has a lot of nice features that I like, such as the compass, the automatic display light, atomic synchronization, and the solar power to note a few. While I would easily purchase this watch again, I might consider the model with the metal band. I say this because somehow with the price of this watch I was expecting it to have a bit more panache to it, if that makes any sense. This watch is fairly light weight and somehow looks characteristically similar to a lot of other pedestrian plastic-band watches out there. That may be fine for people who want just a plainish looking watch, but somehow the metal band version might look a bit nicer, although perhaps not as ruggedly practical.
I haven't had this watch long enough to judge its overall durability, but if my former G-shock watches are any indication, this Pathfinder should hold up just fine.

Featuring tough solar power, multi-band atomic timekeeping, and a digital compass, they don't call this watch the Pathfinder for nothing. This slim men's watch design from Casio features resin construction, including a 47.4-millimeter case and forest green band. The light green-gray dial has a digital time display and a day and date calendar. Powered by digital quartz, the Pathfinder is also water resistant to 330 feet.

Timex Men's T41711 Expedition Analog Camper Watch Review

Timex Men's T41711 Expedition Analog Camper Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Let's face it, this is just a very cool watch. I mean, just look at it. Straight-forward, no-nonsense, and easy to read. Nothing techno-geeky about it.
Timex produces a number of such watches that are an ideal choice for outdoor activities. They are durable, resistant to the elements, and if they are lost it's no big deal. And is anyone going to rob you for a watch that costs less than $30? If they do, so what? Something to keep in mind if you do a lot of travelling.
On the practical side, I find nylon and leather watches straps to be far more comfortable than metal-link bands under most situations. Particularly when out all day in the sun.
There is a time and a place for watches that are essentially jewelry. But when travelling or in the outdoors it's nice to have a watch that is comfortable, absolutely dependable, and something you're not at all worried about.
