Casio Men's W756-1AV Digital Sport Watch Review

Casio Men's W756-1AV Digital Sport Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was just looking for a simple sports watch with both a stopwatch and countdown timer, but this had a lot more than I expected (or needed). It has some timer features particularly for referees, which you may or may not find a use for. While all the features are easy enough to learn, having six modes means a lot of button presses (up to 6) to get back to the main mode. Fortunately, the main mode has a different beep sound, so you can keep pressing it quickly without looking until you hear it. It does what I need though with some complexity. Perhaps I will come to use the other features as well.
Looks: Nice; a bit thick for my taste (about 1/2"; spec says .58"), but it seems a lot of men's sports watches are like that these days
- The main picture shown above is misleading - there is NO blue backlight, but a cheapish orange LED that emits from left side over a dull gray background. The word "Illuminator" inscribed at the top of the watch is also misleading. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that supposed to be Casio's blue backlight technology? Maybe this watch used to have it, but not now. The LED works fine but does not look as nice
- Lens is not recessed so it is easy to scratch
Battery: 10-yr spec assumes use of any feature only once/week (a joke?)
Manual: Hard to read as it is very small and thick
- Get the free 3-page PDF manual which has all the info but is much easier to read, at the watch manual section of the casio site (enter 3100 for Module No.)
Stopwatch: I did not like it; it seems specialized for things like soccer
- Two counts displayed
- The Main count shows 100ths of sec but cannot be stopped at all (kind of useless). It can be set to beep after a specified elapsed time (like end of soccer regulation)
- The small count in corner (harder to read) acts like a standard stopwatch. No splits; just start, stop. It does not show 100ths of sec. In soccer, can use to count stoppage time
Preset countdown timer: Can choose from these times(min): 10,12,20,15,20,25,30,35,40,45
- Auto-repeat feature: If enabled, counts the number repeats (up to 99). If disabled, it just counts up after it hits zero and sounds the alarm, like most countdown timers do
- I like that the current time is in the corner so I don't have to switch modes to find out
Interval Countdown timer: You can use this as a regular countdown timer settable from 1 to 59 min, though I wish it could be set higher. There are also 8 additional timers which you can set individually. The watch will detect which timers are set and run them sequentially. You could use this for interval training or game timing. Auto-repeat can be set for the whole sequence.
World Clock: You can have this display the time in practically any other time zone. 3-letter codes for cities, and DST can be set separately for each
Alarm: Standard features, hourly chime
Other: Button beeps can be turned off
Overall: A decent watch, especially for the price. It's growing on me, I think.

Timex Men's T77862 Expedition Digital Compass Watch Review

Timex Men's T77862 Expedition Digital Compass Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this watch for over 3 years and all functions work fine.I did change the battery once a year ago, which is not easy to do without the right tiny tools. There is a spring clip which holds the battery in and must be released to remove the battery. Also, I have had trouble finding the CR1620 battery at local stores, but you can get it online. Last summer the watch suddenly reset itself to 1/1/00 several times for no apparent reason, but this has not happened again. I suspect the humidity got to it a bit. The compass is accurate and not hard to calibrate. If you like this watch, I suggest comparing it to the LaCrosse XG20 compass watch which is more stylish and perhaps more functional at about the same price.

Timex Men's T44642 Metal Analog and Digital Combo Watch Review

Timex Men's T44642 Metal Analog and Digital Combo Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I generally like the Timex Expedition series because they have both an alarm and a light on an analog watch.
I had an older Timex Expedition that had a rotating ring around the face. This ring was used to set the time and the alarm, and was very simple and quick to use. Just spin the ring to the alarm time, and pull out the crown to set the alarm. There was also a nice feature that would let you set an alarm for up to 1 hour from now, which was nice for setting timers for cooking, etc., without having to set the 12 hour alarm.
On this new watch, there is both an analog face and a digital display as well. I had hoped that they would be synchronized with each other. However, there is no connection between the two parts. The time must be set twice, once for analog using the crown, and once for digital using the buttons, and they do not necessarily stay in sync. I had hoped that you would use the crown to set both the analog and digital times at the same time. Also, the alarm is only settable on the digital part, using the buttons. The procedure for setting the digital alarm is hard to remember how to do, since I don't do it every day. I also miss the "under 1 hour" alarm feature from my old Timex.

Casio Midsize W212HD-1AV Digital Sport Watch Review

Casio Midsize W212HD-1AV Digital Sport Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got mine today and its a nice, simple, elegant, looking watch. This is my third watch I buy in the past 6 years I think and they have all been Casio. I give it 4 stars because it does not come with the instructions on how to adjust the band and it can be frustrating.
STEP ONE: Get a Pushpin
STEP TWO: You will find an arrow pointing out on the removable parts of the band on the inside side.
STEP Three: Put the point of the pushpin on the tiny hole going right from the arrow about 2-3 mm.
Step Four: Inside the tiny hole there will be a dot, move the pushpin point to the opposite direction of the arrow so it falls on the deepest part of the tiny hole.
Step Five: Keeping the point in the deepest part push the dot towards the arrow's direction and a small tiny piece will come out. You may change the angle of the pushpin to make it easier.
Step Six: Repeat this process on another part so you can get the segment you need out.
Step Seven: To put it back together simply connect the two segments together and insert the tiny metal piece that you took out.

Casio Women's Casual Sports watch #LA670WGA1 Review

Casio Women's Casual Sports watch #LA670WGA1

(More customer reviews)
I had been looking for a gold digital watch for a number of years when I finally discovered this one - I don't understand why more aren't made - I want a functional watch that is nice enough to wear with a dress or out somewhere, that has basic features and can also be worn everyday - this fit the bill. It has the date, time, and an alarm. The only feature that it could benefit from is having a light. But I love the "timer" feature along the top - so much so that I am buying a second one. If I need to do something for 10 minutes, I always have a quick timer with me - one quick button pushed a few times gives you 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes to an alarm. It's very quick and I find I use that feature often.

Casio Men's SPF40-1V Sea Pathfinder Tide Watch Review

Casio Men's SPF40-1V Sea Pathfinder Tide Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent watch for outdoorsy types, especially for those who sail, kayak or surf. With a compass, barometer, thermometer, and tide/moon tracking, it provides essential (potentially life-saving) information in an easy to use package.
The compass is seems accurate and is easy to calibrate. It is ideally suited for emergency navigation and for casual use such as trail hiking and river boating. I'm not sure I'd want to use it as my only compass for serious hiking or over the horizon boating, but perhaps that's just my distrust of electronics in mission critical environments.
The barometer is a little more hit-or-miss. It's accuracy is questionable given its fluctuation with altitude or temperature. This is not a Casio problem - it happens with all barometers especially wrist-mounted. Despite these issues the barometrer does a fair job of tracking the trend over the last 24 hours. Serious moutaineers may miss the multi-day tracking and using the barometer as altimeter, but most will appreciate it for the simple data it provides. I wish there were more display options, like a large multiday graph option for instance, but the small graph is fine.
Temp fluctuates when this is worn on the wrist, but not too much - perhaps a couple of degrees hotter than true outside temperature. It may be less accurate in cold temperatures than hot, but I'll have to wait a few months to test that theory.
The tide and moon features are what make this watch unique among triple-sensor watches, so I imagine that will be a key selling point for most. Both work well enough, though they will not replace a tide chart. The tide graph shows the general point in the cycle, but not with great accuracy. It's really only possible to estimate high tide with an hour or two. It would be nice of the actual hightide time were displayed or at least the graph had greater specificity. The moon tracking is a nice touch, since it allows one to estimate the size of the tides (spring and neap). But it's only an estimate - the watch does not tie moon and tide data together, leaving it to the user to figure it out. Some other tide watches actually have charts built-in that provide much more accurate data for particlar beaches, but are limited to limited spots. Since the Casio use longitude and other data to estimate the tide, it is less accurate for specific spots but more usefull overall. The ability to forcast the moon phase days in the future, but not to do the same for tide, leaves me wondering what they were thinking.
Other features of the watch include a countdown timer, stopwatch, and five alarms, which are all just fine. The five alarms cannot be set by day, but I suppose if you want to set a time for each day and just activate it as necessary that does the job. If you use the stopwatch and coundown timers frequently you may find switching between the two annoying, since they use the same function (you just set the the countdown timer to zero to put it in stopwatch mode). Also there are no lap-timers.
Downsides to the watch basically boil down to compleixity and size. While the watch is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it, it is not entirely intuitive an all screens, and requires some memorization. Setting the tide data requires far too much research on the internet, and casio should provide better data either in the manual or on their website about how to set the data for most large coastal cities and popular recreation areas. The size of the watch is HUGE. It is larger even than the Suunto watches with similar features. The biggest annoyance I have with the size is the height, which is made unnecisarily taller by the rotating bezel. But for some the size won't matter (some may like it) so it is really a matter of taste.
Overall the eatch offers a great set of tools for most casual uses and does it at a very reasonable price. I recommend it to casual adventurers unconcerned about the size.

Ultrak Soccer Referee Watch Review

Ultrak Soccer Referee Watch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is your standard rubberized outdoor watch. It seems to be able to handle some moisture well (ie., sweat from running as well as precipitation during games).
It is multi-function, but in practice you're not going to use all the fancy features when you're on the field.
The watch claims to have a beeper, but mine never makes any noise (thankfully! I don't want my soccer watch to beep). However, the documentation says it's supposed to beep (maybe with an option to turn the beeping off), so it just casts doubts on the overall quality of the device if the documentation & the product don't match up.
The LED isn't very bright, but I haven't ever needed it - I don't use the watch for anything but refereeing and you don't play without lights now do you? However if you wanted the light at other times you'd probably be disappointed with it.
It is relatively easy to read the watch when I'm on the field, and the buttons have to be firmly pressed to start & stop the timer, so I haven't yet had a case where the timer has accidentally started or stopped on me.
The soccer timer works well - it resets to 45:00 when you hold the timer button down for a second, otherwise the timer button starts the countdown. When it hits 00:00 it starts counting back up so you can see how much added time has been played. The watch comes with a 2nd "added time" timer, that you use whenever there's any play stoppage on the field for which you will add time at the end of the half. The theory is, any time you think you're in a situation that calls for time to be added, you trigger this 2nd timer to count up, then when you get near the end of the half you can look at your watch and see "oh! that's 2:37 of time we've wasted, so I'll add 2 or 3 minutes of added time to the game." Whether or not you use the 2nd timer is up to you, but it's nice to know it's there.
This watch is functional but not stellar - surely there has to be a better ref's watch out there? I'm giving this watch 3 stars out of 5 due to the shortcomings I've mentioned above.

I'm giving this baby 5 stars for doing so much, so well, for so little $$$. I really like the light button on the top (much easier to access while driving) compared to the li'l button on the side of most Casios. The digits light up without lighting up the whole watch (nice in a darkened theater). It is super simple to use and doesn't look like some kind of space kid's watch or Rambo-wannabe watch. I lost my first one, so I'm back to Amazon for number 2. I might even pick up a spare since products these days seem to change so rapidly (and not always for the better). The previous reviewer dissed this fine watch because it was not large enough. Man, I love this watch because it isn't too big. So many of the Mens sport watches these days seem to be a obnoxious cross between a hockey puck and a bar of soap with a wrist strap. It's a time piece. I don't need to call attention to myself with its ginormousness, nor do I want to be banging it on all manner of obstructions due to its bloated proportions. Bravo to Casio for getting this one right. Great watch for a great price!

I really love these watches. I have owned two now. I purchased the first one because it's a sports watch, and I am an active person. It si also very light weight. The problem is, I only got two years out of the band. When looking for a new band, I found only one website that had it, and it was only a couple of dollars cheaper than buying a whole new watch. I liked the watch so much, I purchased a second one. Again, the band only lasted two years. I wish they had a longer lasting band than this, especially since it's supposed to be a sports watch. At this point, watch #3 will be the forester with the metal band.
