(More customer reviews)IMPORTANT UPDATE! In less than 6 weeks after receiving this watch the light stopped working totally. Since I'm usually in low-light conditions, this watch is totally useless for me. Takes the watch down to 1 star--would give it "0" if I could.
Review after receiving: (3 Stars) This is a nice digital display watch. It is easy to read, seems to keep time very accurately (well it is a Timex, so that is to be expected), and the indigo light button is easy to push, unlike many sports watches these days. It is a pretty soft (muted) pink and lightweight on the wrist--making a very comfortable watch to wear continually, even 24/7.
A couple of reasons, though, for me purchasing this watch are not actually what this watch is or what this watch does. First, in my own stupidity and lack of understanding the description and thinking, "Wow, Timex is keeping up with the technology" I thought this watch took your pulse--well, it does NOT. It is "suppose" to be a pulse calculator--where actually it is not even that. This watch in the pulse mode (supposedly) allows you to take your own pulse at the start button and will calculate (multiply, supposedly) your pulse rate once you count ten pulses and hit the stop button (start and stop are the same button). Not to mention the suggested way to do this is so odd--the wearer is instructed to put the watch in pulse mode, take the hand the watch is worn on, find one's carotid pulse (the one in your neck), hit the start button with the other hand, wait for the beep, then count your pulses to ten, hit stop and then you have your pulse rate calculated for you. First off, this watch has a very nice, readable second counter on its initial time display. So to do it the "old fashion" way and take your pulse by counting pulses in a ten or fifteen second time frame then multiply by 6 or 4, respectively, is not that difficult--that is if you passed 1st/2nd grade math. If you don't have the math skills then this watch isn't for you either, as after trying many, many times at various activity levels, I have never gotten an accurate or consistent reading using the pulse mode as compared to just counting and multiplying for my PRM. I generally have a resting heart rate between 54 and 60. With this watch's "pulse calculator", the stopped display will have calculations from 36 to 200+ at rest--and the watch has been cleared and reset to calculate each time--with exercise or high activity giving the same type of variations in its calculations (not that I thought it would work differently since this watch is only suppose to be multiplying your count for you) while doing the usual way counting then multiplying, I have a pulse rate that is consistent and accurate every time. So to purchase this watch to do your heart-rate/pulse calculations is totally useless.
The other reason is the preset timers. First, the description says there are twelve preset timers where there are only 10 on this model. But, you can only use the presets! If you want a timer to do any timeframe differently then these presets (1 minute up to 1 hour) this is not the watch w/timers for you as I needed and expected. You can NOT set your own time needed in the timer mode!
So, basically this is just a time display watch with alarm and stopwatch that you can possibly use as a timer if the presets always fit into your needs without any need for variables. It is useless to get your accurate pulse rate, thus costing much more than just the simple $10-$12 sports watch it actually is.
